Merrehill works with a number of clients who either ask Merrehill to deliver a marketing campaign to their own mailing list, or request that Merrehill send their prospective marketing offering to a directory of business or public sector contacts in order to generate interest in their products and services.

Every marketing email that Merrehill delivers features an unsubscribe link at the bottom of the message, allowing the recipient to opt out of receiving further marketing from the client on whose behalf Merrehill has delivered that email. However, it does not affect marketing delivered on behalf of other clients, so a recipient may continue to receive such messages. It can also be the case that several campaigns have been scheduled in advance, and one address could be a recipient in two or more of those campaigns. We usually advise a period of two working days to see the full effect of an unsubscribe, though in practice most are instant.

Where Merrehill is delivering a prospective marketing campaign to a directory, individuals featured on the directory have the right to object to the use of their personal data, such as their name, or a corporate email address featuring their name or a distinctive job title, for the purpose of direct marketing. Although there is no legal requirement to do so, Merrehill will usually also take action even where there is no personal data being processed in connection with a directory record, as we have no interest in sending marketing messages to businesses that do not wish to receive our clients' offers.
